CCOP is one of the Founding Members of DDE. It is the only Inter-governmental organization, serving 16 Member countries (ASEAN 10 (Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Philippines, Singapore and Vietnam) and China, Japan, South Korea, Mongolia, Papua New Guinea and Timor-Leste).

DDE Statement

In February 2025, the UNESCO hosted UN Secretariat for the International Decade of Sciences for Sustainable Development (IDSSD; 2024-2033) recognized DDE as a Programme of the Decade.

The IUGS communique on DDE issued in early April 2025 resulted from the presentation of the DDE annual report to the IUGS-EC Open Session on 18 March 2025, held at the Geological Society of France, and another meeting between IUGS and DDE Leaders on 21 March 2025 in Paris.

The Chairs of the DDE Governing Council (GC), Prof. Harvey Thorleifson, and the Executive Committee (EC), Prof. Qiuming Cheng, are hosting 4 Open Forum discussions, on 7, 14, 21 and 28 May 2025.
