DDE “kicked off” at an inaugural gathering of more than 70 international geoscience experts from 40 countries at the Fragrance Hill Hotel in Beijing, China in February 2019.

Following the resignation of the former Chair of the DDE Executive Committee, and in accordance with the DDE Status, the President of DDE Governing Council, Harvey Thorleifson, initiated the election for a new Chair of the DDE Executive Committee. Prof. Qiuming Cheng has been nominated as a candidate for the new Executive Committee Chair.

Large Language Models in Palynological Taxonomy

The 37th International Geological Congress, hosted by the Republic of Korea in Busan from 25 to 31 August 2024 was a landmark event for DDE. It was the first IGC, a quadrennial world gathering of geologists, where DDE had the opportunity to showcase its achievements, products and services since DDE began its implementation in 2019.

The "DDE Geologic Hydrogen Task Group" workshop, organized by the Deep-time Digital Earth (DDE) Grand Science Program of the International Union of Geological Sciences (IUGS), was successfully held in Beijing.
